Core Copywriting Terms & Conditions
All work that I agree to do is subject to the following terms and conditions. I will assume that you have read and understood these when you confirm that you are happy with my proposal and want me to do the work.
All work that I agree to do is subject to the following terms and conditions. I will assume that you have read and understood these when you confirm that you are happy with my proposal and want me to do the work.
You will be held to these terms and conditions once I receive a written confirmation that you want me to complete your project based on my quoted fee.
Fees will usually be quoted on a fixed cost basis. This price will include:
This fee does not include out-of-pocket travel expenses for travel beyond Brighton & Hove (including 20-mile radius) or London (Zone 1-6) after that initial meeting.
As soon as I become aware of any extra work that wasn’t covered in the proposal, I’ll let you know. We can then discuss the fees for this work.
I will discuss the project process with you and outline it in my proposal so that we’re all clear on how the process will be managed.
Once the brief has been agreed we will agree a delivery schedule.
Once I deliver the first draft I will need to receive any requests for revisions within 21 days, unless we’ve agreed otherwise. The same timescale applies for the second draft.
If I don’t get any feedback within 21 days, I will invoice you for the work that has been done.
I will always do my best to complete your writing project by the deadline. However, if I can’t do this due to reasons beyond my control, I shall not be liable for any loss or damage caused to you or a third-party client. I’ll always tell you as soon as I know that there may be a delay.
Meeting the deadlines also depends on the time it takes for you to provide feedback on the draft versions. I shall not be held liable for any delay caused by you not providing feedback according to the delivery schedule we’ve agreed.
The copyright of any material that I have written will pass to you once the final invoice for the project has been paid. Until then, I hold the copyright. I reserve the right to use excerpts of the copy on my website and in my portfolio.
You confirm that you own the copyright for any draft or other written materials that you supply to me to use within your project. If there is a copyright dispute between you and a third party regarding anything you supplied to me to include, I am indemnified against any claim that is made with regards to a breach of copyright.
My aim is to supply you with a quality piece of writing that is free of errors. However, you are responsible for the the final proof-reading, and you agree to indemnify me against any loss or damage caused by inaccuracies that are published.
If you’re a new client, I will need 50% of the project fee paid up front. This is payable on receipt.
For larger projects that run over a number of months, we can agree a payment schedule based on the work that is completed each month.
I’ll issue the final invoice when I send through the final draft. (Most copywriting projects include a first draft and two rounds of revisions in the cost.)
The payment terms are 15 days on all invoices, unless we’ve agreed otherwise.
When I send you through any draft copy, you need to send me any revision requests within 21 days. If I don’t get your requests within that time I will invoice you for all the work I’ve already done.
I reserve the right to charge interest on payments that are overdue by more than 5 days. Interest will be charged in line with the UK Government’s Better Payment Practice Code.
If you need to cancel the project after the start date, I reserve the right to charge you 50% of the agreed fee, or alternatively pro rata for the amount of work I’ve already done. If you cancel the project after you have received the first draft you will be liable for the full project fee.
I will not disclose any confidential information and am happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement if you would like me to. I will also do my best to ensure that any information with which I am entrusted remains secure at all times. However, you agree to indemnify me against any potential damages incurred to yourself or a third-party client through the accidental loss of any such information.
I will always do my best to supply you with quality writing that meets your deadlines and your project specifications. Should you feel, after having clearly communicated and collaborated on any revisions to the first draft, that I have not met these specifications, then the contract between us will be cancelled and no payment will be due.
I will retain the copyright to any material that has been produced. You will undertake not to use any of the draft material that has been exchanged.
